Introducing The Iowa River Landing’s Final Anchor Tenant: Xtream Arena & Fieldhouse

About The Project

The Iowa River Landing - 30+ Year Vision

*NEW: Naming Rights Press Release – Jan. 24th, 2019*
After more than 30 years of planning and visionary work, the Iowa River Landing has become one of our state’s premiere cultural and entertainment district destinations. This unique collection of cultural attractions, a major conference center, boutique retail, dining and entertainment options, world class health care, private residential opportunities, park space, natural areas, and more cannot be found anywhere else in Iowa. As the final, anchor tenant, the state-of-the-art Xtream Arena & Fieldhouse will complete the Landing’s 185-acre master plan, but also add substantially to the area’s quality of life thanks to the multitude of activities and events it will host in the future. The Iowa River Landing has already created hundreds of permanent jobs and has afforded the larger Iowa City community with the ability to attract hundreds of conferences, meetings, and special events that otherwise would not have come to our community. These visitors have poured hundreds of millions of dollars into our local and state economies over the past decade, and there is much more on the horizon with the addition of the Xtream Arena & Fieldhouse.

Following the state’s 2015 designation of the Iowa River Landing Reinvestment District, city and business leaders have assembled a team built for continued success. The Xtream Arena & Fieldhouse will be operated by Spectra Venue Management, a nationally recognized firm who also manages the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines and the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City. Spectra will work in partnership with Aramark to ensure the strongest possible level of collaboration with the University of Iowa Athletic Department. They will also work closely with nearby University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, museums, and various hotel operators and local businesses for scheduling and programming opportunities.

The Right-Sized Venue

When complete in 2020, the Xtream Arena & Fieldhouse will fulfill a longstanding community and economic development void.

The 5,250 fixed seat Xtream Arena powered by Mediacom (6,000 concert capacity) will serve as a highly accessible and most importantly right sized venue for concerts, family shows, and special events. It will immediately enable this community to become a signature attractor of both amateur and professional sporting events through its direct connectivity to the 53,000+ sq ft temperature controlled fieldhouse.

The Xtream Arena & Fieldhouse will leverage the collaborative marketing & programming opportunities that we have through University of Iowa athletics and other programs like SCOPE, CAB, and Recreational Services. All the while providing a plethora of new community event and sports opportunities that have to date not been feasible. A development vision such as this requires the entire community. We would welcome any opportunity to provide a more detailed overview of the Iowa River Landing master plan and how you can join us with this transformational quality of life development.
